Installation
Talia can be installed on Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 and Windows XP. Talia can also be installed on Windows Vista with a little limitation (please refer to the Known limitations).
There are no particular hardware requirements for Talia. As long as the operating system requirements are fulfilled, Talia will run fine.
Beside the operating system, Talia requires the .NET framework v3.5 and SQL Server. Please refer to the Talia Installation instructions for the complete list of software requirements.

The Windows Service Credentials you provided are not correct. Ensure that the Windows user exists and that you typed the right password. This user has to have right to install and run a Windows Service.
Yes. Talia uses an instant messaging account to contact the users. Ensure that you create an account for Talia for each instant messaging server that you want to use.
I use Google talk as my instant messaging solution, what server name and port should I use in the configuration wizard?
You should use the server name "talk.google.com". If you use an SSL connection, use "5223" for the port number, otherwise use "5222".
Troubleshooting Tips
The start Talia shortcut starts a Windows Service. If the configuration is correct, you should see Talia Online in your instant messaging client.
There are many possible reasons for this. Please refer to the next questions to troubleshoot this problem.
There are two easy ways to do this:
- Check the log file located in the "log" folder under the Talia installation directory. Ensure that there are no errors in the log. If you see error, there may be a problem with the configuration. Please refer to the next question to see how to solve this issue.
- Add Talia to your contact list in your instant messaging software and ensure that you see Talia with an Online status.
The simplest way is to uninstall and re-install Talia. Another option is to manually alter the configuration file. Please refer to the Talia installation guide for the complete instructions.
I doubled checked my settings and everything seems fine, but I still get errors after starting Talia. What can I do?
Please contact us talia.support@dialoogsolutions.com and provide the following information:
- The Talia log file. Please attach it to the message, do not copy / paste the content
- The Windows version (and service pack number) installed on the machine running Talia
- The time sheet system used with Talia
- Whether Talia is running on the same machine as the time sheet system or not
- The problem description, be as precise as possible
Talia cannot communicate with the instant messaging server. Please verify that the instant messaging server settings are correct in the configuration file.
The email address provided for the given user does not correspond to the email address used to authenticate the user in the instant messaging client. I.e. If a user has the corporate email address "user@mycompany.com", but use another email to log on to his instant messaging client, then Talia need to use the other email address to contact the user.
Talia is installed as a Windows service manually controlled by default. After a reboot, ensure that you start Talia from the Start menu shortcut.
Yes. Open the Windows Service management window, look for the "Talia" Windows service, and change its start type from "Manual" to "Automatic".
The time sheet system was not reachable at the time Talia tried to save your time for the day. This is a known issue that will be corrected in a further release.

You either did not provide her enough information or you are not assigned to this particular activity.
The most probable cause it that you contact Talia out of her configured "business hours". This feature will be improved in upcoming releases so that Talia always answer the users regardless of the time.
Limitations
Symptom : You have the following activities defined: "Vacancy" and "Extra Long Vacancy". If you try to enter time on "Vacancy". Talia will ask you to clarify your assigment between "Vacancy" and "Extra Long Vacancy".
Workaround : None, please use your time sheet system directly to input your time.

Symptom : When you start Talia using the Start menu shortcut, Talia does not start.
Workaround : Start Talia by using the Windows Service administration screen.
